In thirty (30) days, we will be implementing new Terms of Service as well as a new Privacy Policy, and we’d like to give you this advance notice to clarify the scope of changes. As we announced last year, OVPN was acquired by Pango. As part of the transition, we are aligning our legal practices and publishing more globally comprehensive terms.
Please note, we are not ‘degrading’ the core anonymity features of our VPN service, nor engaging in any types of advertising or data ‘monetization’ efforts that would impact your privacy. As stated in our new privacy policy “OVPN does not record your VPN browsing activities in any way that can be associated back to you, and this policy is not changing as a result of the Pango acquisition. When you use a VPN connection, we do not store any information that identifies what you browse, view, or do online via that VPN connection.”
The key changes we are making to the Terms of Service include:
Billing: We have included new information about how you can manage your subscription, use different payment methods, cancellations and refunds.
Arbitration and Governance: We are modifying our dispute resolution process to require arbitration rather than attempting to resolve matters in court, as well as clarifying U.S. jurisdiction for any legal actions, unless required by global laws.
Intellectual Property: We are incorporating limited license terms for your use of our software and services, as well as any information you provide to us with use of the software.
Legal Liability: We have updated our legal terms to incorporate standard clauses related to limitations of liability and damages. For clarification, OVPN software is “As Is” and “As Available” as those terms are legally defined.

The key changes we are making to the Privacy Policy include:
Corporate update: We are clarifying that the OVPN website and service are now owned by Pango, and will be operated alongside their other portfolio companies.
Customer data management update: Pango will be taking over our ecommerce subscription management, including payment processing and customer support. For our customers in the European Union or United Kingdom, this may include transferring your personal data to servers outside of those regions. For reference, Pango complies with the U.S. Department of Commerce Data Privacy Framework, as listed here and has assigned a Data Protection Officer.
Clarifying legal changes: We’ve updated the privacy policy to reflect the growing global requirements for posted privacy policies, including updated information about what information is collected, with whom it shared, legal basis for processing activities, and your privacy choices. To be clear, this includes how we would handle information requests we are legally obligated to respond to, as well as sharing with Pango’s corporate affiliates or in the event of a subsequent corporate asset sale.
Aligning OVPN with Pango: As noted, your VPN browsing behavior will continue to be anonymous. However, to better align with Pango’s other VPN products, we are clarifying that we may use certain collected information related to our VPN products to combat fraud, improve our products, as well as clarifying how we collect and use IP addresses. We will also now retain customer subscription information in accordance with Pango’s overall policies (which does not include any browsing session information).

These changes will go into effect on July 12, 2024. By continuing to use our services on or after July 12, 2024, you are agreeing to our updated Terms of Service and Privacy Policy and its described uses of your personal information, including all data previously collected. Please feel free to contact us at privacy@ovpn.com for legal questions, or using support@ovpn.com for support inquiries.
Thank you for your continued support for OVPN.
